I LOVE TO LIVE

Today, dear Lord, I’m 90 and there’s good I haven’t done
So I hope, dear Lord, you’ll let me live until I’m 91.

Dear Lord, as I still haven’t finished all I ought to do
I ask for another chance to try, and do it all by 92

So many really need my prayers, so many friends to please
Do you think that you could manage to make it 93?

You’ve given me great-grandchildren, but I’d like to see some more
So could you please keep me around, dear Lord, until I’m 94.

Now, since with your grace, I still have the strength to strive
I’d thank you, Lord, if you’ll keep me around till I’m 95.

I could be over the hill and there may be no quick fix
But I’d still be very grateful, Lord, to live to 96.

I still enjoy good health, through the blessings you have given
And beg you for another year to complete 97.

I know, dear Lord, I’m slowing down and life won’t be that great
But my family would be grateful, Lord, if I’m here at 98.

Thank you Lord, for this wonderful family of mine
Who have come here today, to celebrate with me at 99.

I’m grateful for the good life, with which I’ve been blessed
And dare, dear Lord, to add just one more request.

Would it be too much to ask of you, without a tear
If you would please let me complete my one-hundredth year?

And if it’s in your plan, dear Lord to add on another few
We’ll all join our hearts in giving praise and all our thanks to you.
